There are even more serious issues here. As more grains are converted to bio-fuels, the price of grains will rise. This will result in a corresponding increase in the cost of liquor. Whatever will we do? Eventually we may be forced to choose between imbibing and sailing. The horror.....

A big problem with the currently fashionable bio-fuels was announced last week. It turns out that all the US farmland now being dedicated for 'renewable' fuels has forced a similar amount of acreage to be dedicated to food use in.....YES! The rainforest!

Huge tracts of rainforest are now being cleared to produce food in south america.

Somebody did the calculations and guess what? More carbon is now, and will forever be produced because of the huge shift in land-use than will ever be saved by using the renewable fuels.

    Gee, but they meant well.
