Neil,

What size boat would you recommend for Skaneateles?

There's great sailing all around Skaneateles, which although landlocked, is a beautiful lake itself. I grew up in that area, and between the Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario, no shortage of places to sail summer or winter. Before I bought my 35-1 last fall, I looked a few boats in Ithaca, the market is (was?) pretty good there.

And Chris, those Annapolis 14ner's were a great bunch, weren't they. Send me an email offline.

I crewed on a Soling and made the trips back to Annapolis to sail with my brother on his I 14 and Laser 28. I like the Lakes, sailed 14's out of RCYC and QCYC, but I'd take the Chesapeake any day.

Did you do any water sailing in Rochester? Where and on what type of boat?

Actually, that's what I did when I moved from the Magothy River to Rochester, NY in 1983. Still have the DN although I'm back on the Chesapeake.

I have lived in reach of the Chesapeake Bay area all of my life, but am now looking at relocating as a result of a prolonged job search (following a lay off) to up sate NY (Skaneateles, NY).

One of the decision I now face is what to do with FoxFire, sell her or move her (Lake Ontario maybe?).

Is there anyone with experience with the current used boat market or the Finger Lakes region of NY that want to share their experiences/thoughts?
